Sarah & I are huge fans of “The West Wing” the TV drama from the early 2000’s, and it echoes in our lives daily with quotes and bits of philosophy we picked up throughout more than 20 years of watching & rewatching the show… and all its derivatives including the amazing podcast about the show. 

What’s been on my mind for the past few months is perhaps the most famous quote from President Bartlet during the show as it showed up no matter what whether dealing with crisis & tragedy or a simple meeting at the holidays… he was always asking:

“What’s Next?”

While it could seem like a callous question at times, when you watch the show you come to understand it seemed to honor the value of every moment he had in office as an opportunity to change the world for the better, so he didn’t want to get bogged down and miss out on continuing to move forward.  And… it is easy to get bogged down… I feel it myself, and we hear it regularly from friends and clients…

• The Economy

• Interest Rates

• Affordability

• The Election

• Uncertainty

These are just the top concerns we hear slowing our clients (and ourselves, at times) down as they think of moving forward toward their future.  While I don’t have all the answers and certainty, I do know that for more than 20 years we’ve helped hundreds of clients move into the unknown of their “What’s Next?” and overcome each of these challenges and many more. While it wasn’t all easy, years later when we reflect with our clients on the journey, nearly all of them were glad they kept moving forward.

So as we look to 2025, with the challenges 2024 quickly moving into our rearview mirror, we hope you are asking yourself “What’s Next?” with the sense of hope and opportunity which is always present when you keep moving forward.
